Cooking ideas

For a fast cup of tea, stuff the grill full of twigs, branches or kindling…whatever fits and let it roar and have your cup of tea in no time.

Build a bed of coals from there and fry up your fish you just caught.

For more finesse grilling, use larger wood and let the coals burn down adjust your grate for what you want to cook.

Alternate fuel ideas:- Use bbq charcoal or wood pellets.

Built to Last

We use 16- and 12-gauge mild steel for durability and strength. With a bit of TLC this grill may last a lifetime.

When you are done your trip  (before storing):

Lightly rub with vegetable oil. Wipe off excess with a cloth. Next time you use your Nordic Grill will smell like popcorn and eventually look like your cast iron

SAFETY FIRST

Yes, it’s hot!

This grill can reach high temperatures. Have leather gloves on hand. We always have an old pair of work gloves packed in our kitchen box with our grill. You’ll find they come in handy for anything, from chopping wood, stoking the big fire and definitely to use with your grill. And they’ll keep your hands from being a little less gnarly overall.

☀️ SPRING, SUMMER, FALL

Small Fire. Big Responsibility.

We love our forests. And remember the Nordic Grill is still an open fire so be fire smart. Be aware of your surroundings. Sparks will fly — this is a wood fire, not a candle.

Always place on a non-combustible surface, such as:

  • Gravel, sand or rock

  • A riverbank or lake shore are also great places for possibilities.

And just like a campfire, do not leave it unattended. Be aware of conditions as in wind plus check fire danger ratings:

❄️ WINTER

Snow changes everything. The fire danger rating is generally low in  December.

Pro tip: Place a few branches under the grill to:

  • To create  airflow

  • To prevent it from melting into the snow or ice

  🔥 Happy grilling!
